Zone 5 also provides the city with some elementary, middle and junior high schools with Arnold Drive Elementary being exclusively for residents of the Air Force base. Also serving the city is Homer Adkins Elementary, which is provided by Zone 7. The school district operates a total of 64 schools and enrolls over 26,500 students. Several private and parochial schools are also available in the city. At the Little Rock Air Force Base is a branch of the Arkansas State University Beebe. The city runs one indoor swimming pool, one outdoor swimming pool and 11 public parks. The Jacksonville Community Center is an award-winning 56,000-square-foot facility that provides an indoor pool, an indoor walking track, a gym for basketball, aerobics and volleyball, a playground, certified personal trainers, fitness specialists, racquetball courts, workout facilities, meeting and banquet areas, baby sitting, exercise facilities with equipment, and more. The center also hosts recreational programs, athletic leagues and fitness classes. Also, the Martin Street Recreation Center is a 5,250-square-foot youth center with pool tables, ping pong facilities, classrooms, and a lighted multipurpose court with basketball hoops. Pleasure Park hosts the recreation center and also has a pavilion, a playground and is home to the Splash Zone, a pool complex. Dupree Park has two lighted and fenced Babe Ruth/American Legion ball fields, five lighted and fenced softball fields, four soccer/football fields, a 10-acre lake with a fishing pier, a paved 1.3-mile trail, six electrified pavilions (one of which is a festival pavilion), a playground, a disc golf course with 18 holes, a horseshoe pit, and a dog park.
