About Little Rock
As the capital of Arkansas, Little Rock is the most populous city in the state and as of 2005, is home to 184,422 residents. Located in Pulaski County, Little Rock is named for a small rock formation found along the south bank of the Arkansas River. La Petite Roche was used by pioneers and early settlers as a landmark, and the rock can still be found among the river banks today. The Little Rock Air Force Base is the home and training center of Combat Airlift. The 314th Airlift Wing is the host unit and the 189th Airlift Wing of the Arkansas Air National Guard also calls the AFB home.  The Little Rock AFB is also the home of the largest C-130 fleet in the world. It is where the world's best C-130 air crews are trained.

Attractions
Little Rock has an active downtown district which includes the William J. Clinton Presidential Center. The center offers the Clinton presidential library, offices of the Clinton Foundation, and the Clinton School of Public Service. The museum overlooks the Arkansas River and houses 2 million photos, 80 million pages of documents, 21 million e-mail messages, and nearly 80,000 artifacts, including President Clinton's collection of saxophones. The museum is open to the public and has a full-scale replica of the Clinton-era Oval Office. Also in Little Rock is the MacArthur Museum of Arkansas Military History, which is the last-remaining structure of the Little Rock Arsenal, one of central Arkansas' oldest buildings. In March of 2008 the city hosted the first two rounds of the NCAA Basketball Tournament, welcoming schools such as Austin Peay University, Saint Mary's College of California, and the University of Texas at Austin.

Education
The Little Rock School District operates public schools in Little Rock. There are a total of 64 schools at present with more underway. As of the 2005-2006 school year, 26,524 students were enrolled in the school system, including 1 pre-kindergaten center, 2 alternative schools, 1 adult education center, 1 career center, and 1 accelerated learning center. Arnold Drive Elementary School serves the AFB exclusively. The city also has 2 major universities as a part of the University of Arkansas System: the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. UALR now offers over 50 undergraduate major programs, graduate and professional programs, and an extensive schedule of classes including night, weekend and online courses. Two smaller, private and historically-black colleges are also found in the city: the Philander Smith College and Arkansas Baptist College.
